Hartford is one of America's oldest cities and claims the oldest public art museum, the Wadsworth Atheneum, the oldest continuously published newspaper, the Hartford Courant, and the oldest publicly funded park, Bushnell Park. It's also home to several minor league sports franchises including the Hartford Yard Goats, (baseball), Hartford Wolf Pack (hockey), and Hartford Athletic (soccer).  Hartford is also the home away from home of the UCONN Huskies Men's and Women's Basketball teams. Hartford is conveniently midway between Boston and New York City. The Greater Hartford region includes most of central Connecticut and includes 54 cities and towns with a total population of 1.2 million.
