Holy Week
Blessing of the Palms - Saturday March 27th, 3:00pm, Farmington Ave. parking lot
The prelude to Holy Week begins with a short service of Blessing of Palms in the parking lot followed by distribution of palms from 3:00-5:00pm.
Palm Sunday - March 28th, 10am, livestreamed
Join us for a worship service on Palm Sunday, with palm waving from the organ loft and hymns led by our choristers. This service will feature traditional hymns (All Glory, Laud, and Honor; O Sacred Head Now Wounded; My Song is Love Unknown; Ah, Holy Jesus) and the anthem Hosanna to the Son of David by Daniel Moe, in collaboration with Emanuel Lutheran Church.
Maundy Thursday - April 1st, 7:00pm, livestreamed
This service will feature a trio of Choir School officers singing Ubi Caritas by Mary Lynn Lightfoot, a collaborative bell choir offering of Lord Keep Us Steadfast in Your Word, as well as all the choristers singing an arrangement of What Wondrous Love is This. The congregation is invited to join in singing When Jesus Left His Father's Throne, Let Us Break Bread Together, and Go to Dark Gethsemane. This service ends with the stripping of the altar, accompanied by the mystique of Olivier Messiaen's music.
Good Friday - April 2nd, 7:00pm, livestreamed
The choristers and adult choir members will present When Jesus Wept by William Billings. Adult choir members, joined by the community, will also sing the hauntingly beautiful spiritual, Were You There When They Crucified My Lord?
Easter Vigil - April 3rd, 7:30pm, livestreamed
This service will begin outside, by fire light, as per ancient Christian tradition, and then continue livestreamed from the sanctuary. Each lesson will be followed by a musical response as the story of salvation is told.
Easter Sunday - April 4th
8:00 am, in the Memorial Garden
Holy Eucharist Rite II with communion in one kind (bread only)
10:00am, livestreamed
The joyous celebration of Easter will include special music by the Choir School of Hartford, joined by guests, singing Rosephanye Powell's Non Nobis Domine. With traditional hymns and triumphant organ music, we invite you to join us online for this most special service.
11:30am – 12:30pm
Parking lot drive-through Communion distribution (bread only) from the elements consecrated at the 10am service.
